Description
The Hunter Passage 420 is the refined offspring of the extremely popular Hunter Passage 42 series. With just the right blend of spacious accommodations and surprisingly easy sailing performance, Hunter found a winner in the Passage 420.
Topside, the clear, wide decks and multiple handholds make moving about safe and easy. Lounging areas are abundant, including double stern rail seats and sun pads on the back deck and a comfortable cockpit area. The step-down transom makes climbing on board your dinghy a breeze. The time-tested B&R rig tames the power in the mainsail where it is easier to handle. The smaller jib is almost self-tacking and with the arch keeping the mainsheet overhead and out of the way, your cockpit is clear and safe. All lines are led aft to the cockpit and the in-mast furling makes sail handling a breeze!
Below decks, the Passage 420 makes a fantastic live-aboard and was designed for long distance cruising in comfort. With her 14’ beam, you won’t find more spaciousness in any other boat her size. The Corian countertops and hand rubbed teak provide a warm, sumptuous atmosphere that just feels good to be in.
Privacy when you have guests on board is rare, but the Hunter Passage 420 fits the bill there nicely as well. The master stateroom is aft and offers a queen size walk around berth, an ensuite head and an incredible amount of storage and ventilation. The guest stateroom forward has a Pullman berth and ensuite head, with plenty of storage to make your guests feel at home. Both cabins have cedar lined lockers and drawers.
Whether you are planning on local sailing, extended cruising or living aboard, the Hunter Passage 420 is a great choice and is designed to provide the comfort and livability you desire in a manageable and affordable package.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Forward head: The ensuite forward head is constructed of molded fiberglass and Corian surfaces for easy cleaning. The head itself is directly in front of you as you enter, while to port is the shower, with cabinet and shelf space for toiletries. On starboard is the sink, with storage below and a mirrored medicine cabinet above. The mirrored cabinet door is drop-front and cleverly sloped back, so that you can see yourself without stooping. Headroom is 6’2”; an overhead hatch provided ventilation and light; additionally, there are three overhead lights.
Forward stateroom: Aft of the head is the forward VIP stateroom. On port is a changing seat, with storage beneath it. Just aft of that is a 30” wide cedar lined hanging locker, with shelf space above and counter space below that; beneath the counter space is a double door cabinet with shelves. On starboard, the double 6’5”x 30”x 58” Pullman berth has cedar lined locker and drawer storage beneath it and 2 shelves above the foot of the bed. A teak louvered bi-fold pass thru window can be opened to the saloon if desired, providing great flow-thru ventilation while at anchor. Additional lighting and ventilation include four overhead lights, the air conditioning, and a screened overhead hatch. Headroom is 6’4”.
Saloon: Moving into the saloon there is a straight 58” settee on port, with storage space beneath and shelf space behind it. There is another fiddled shelf above that along the hull side with a drop front cabinet on the aft end of that. On starboard, the large dinette table can comfortably seat five. The table can be dropped down to convert to a 6’4” berth. On centerline is an ottoman seat with storage beneath it. The settee has storage beneath it with a long fiddled shelf behind. Above and along the hull is a drop door looker and a fiddled shelf aft – both with fiddled shelf area above. On the aft end of the dinette is the entertainment center, with a cabinet below it. Headroom is 6’6”. There are four fixed house lights, one fixed hullside light, two overhead hatches and seven overhead lights.
Galley: Located on port, the gourmet galley provides a very generous amount of counter space. The Corian countertops are trimmed with teak fiddles, which provide excellent hand holds when underway. Starting below the companionway stairs there is counter space on centerline and wrapping around on the aft end of the galley. The refrigerator and freezer are located beneath the aft counter, with top loading access to both boxes and front-loading access to the fridge. There is high fiddled shelf above that counter. Moving around along the hullside is the Force 10 stove; forward of that is the sink and then additional counter space forward of that a top access rubbish bin under a Corian lid. Beneath the sink and towards the center area are double drawer storage and utensil drawers. Above and behind the sink and stove are two drop-front lockers, a fiddled shelf and a microwave, with fiddled shelves above them. Headroom is 6’4”. Lighting is provided by one fixed light, one opening port and five overhead lights.
Nav station: The large nav station is located on starboard in the corridor leading aft to the Master State room. The curved teak seat provides comfortable seating when heeled and has storage beneath it. There is cubby storage outboard and lots of storage below the nav table lid. There’s additional cubby storage forward beneath the nav table. Opposite that is a hanging self-draining wet locker. There is a fiddled area above that for smaller wet gear, which also has a built-in drain. Immediately behind the nav seat is a huge double-doored, with a washer/dryer inside. The top of that is fiddled and has dividers to organize items such as chart books and other materials. Lighting and ventilation are from one fixed light, one opening port and one overhead light. Headroom is 6’1”.
Aft stateroom: The master stateroom on the Hunter 420 is truly spectacular. As you enter the cabin the first thing that strikes you is the centerline queen berth, with a padded headboard and a teak foot board. On either side of the headboard are nightstands with 2 drawers and a generous amount of table top space for each. On port is a full-length tabletop with three drop-front lockers below it. Above that and across the entire transom is a tremendous amount of fiddled shelf space. The starboard side of the cabin has a tall cedar lined hanging locker forward and a tall double door locker with shelving aft; assorted cubby drawers and locker storage are between them. There is a vanity mirror and a pull-out teak desk beneath the vanity mirror. The cabin is well lit and cheerful, with 6 overhead lights and a pair of wall sconce LED reading lights. Additional lighting and ventilation include 2 hull side fixed lights, four opening ports (including two on the transom above the headboard) and an overhead hatch. Head room in here is 6’5”.
Aft Head: The ensuite master head is molded fiberglass and Corian surfaces throughout for easy cleaning. Entry is on the port side of the cabin, with the counter and sink immediately to your left. There is storage beneath and a mirrored medicine cabinet above the counter. Forward of that is the separate stall shower, with a head and drop-down fiberglass shower seat should you so choose. The shower space has 2 Corian countertop areas as well as a molded rack for toiletries. The space is illuminated with four overhead lights and an opening port. Headroom is 6’5”.
